By now mostly everybody in the MMA world has heard of the timekeeping error in round 1 of Gerald Harris vs Maiquel Falcao at UFC 123. The conspiracy theories have accumulated and people are beginning to suggest that for some bizarre reason unbeknownst to any of us, that the UFC did this intentionally to save Harris from Falcao's rear naked choke. While ridiculous to most of us, the story has in fact become a little bit weirder. In a shocking turn of events, Gerald Harris has been reportedly cut from the UFC.
Since Ryan Loco broke the news that Aldo is out of his fight, I guess I gotta do my part and let you all know that I just got off the phone with Gerald Harris and he has been released by the UFC.
This report makes the whole Harris/Falcao situation much more difficult to understand. While Harris in fact lost this fight, it is in fact his first loss in the UFC. Harris had been on a roll at this point in his career, compiling 10 consecutive wins since his last loss in August of '07. At this point, this story seems very difficult to understand. Hopefully some clarity will be reached in the coming days and we can find out more about the sitution.
