3 Reasons Fitch Wins - So Says the Mouth!

There are two things no one can accuse me of in this cyberlife:

  1. Hugging the nuts of any fighter.
  2. Being a _____ willow when it comes to making a fight prediction.

Thusly stated, I wish to give you another list.  Despite the 63% of the MMA voting population who have predicted a Penn victory (39% by KO!), I give you three reasons why they are mistaken:

  1. All things roughly equal, size does make a difference.  We're seeing it more and more now (This past Strikeforce was an excellent example) and Fitch is just naturally much more man carne than the puffed up to 170 Penn.
  2. Penn always has trouble with guys who control where fights take place (aka real top notch wrestlers) and this is a great instance of that, yet again.
  3. What is Penn's path to victory here?  Those 39% that call for a TKO/KO must be smoking some mighty good cheeba.  Alves couldn't knock Fitch's block off.  No one has put the guy down and it's not going to start with a lightweight!

One quick knockout and a mean look on his face in his last fight does not mean some old version of a dominant BJ is back.  For that matter, any old version of BJ is not up to date on the skills needed to win in the top echelons of today's UFC.  The game is passing yesterday's fighters by, people.  Stop being that #1 thing I'm not (see above).

We'll see Saturday night if I'm a blow hard or a genius...  Until then, flame away if you got the sack for it!

"The Mouth" is just a dude with an opinion and "The Web" is just a place where he thinks anyone actually wants to hear it.

How can I not hug his nuts? They are so big, they can't get out of the way.

Jon says...
How would you be a genuis for stating what alot of people already know?
and the fact you made this says you're huggin on fitch's nuggets a little bit.

Hmmm... draw. Not proven wrong or right, but I think we all see where that fight was headed. I should have added to my comments how Penn always seems to find a way to give up after round 2.

Above and beyond what the two bring to the fight, skill wise:

Losses impact people in diffferent ways... some use them as fuel to make themselves better and others begin to question themselves. I believe that BJ has begun to question himself, saw it in his face after the second Edgar fight. Fitch does not question himself. I believe... after being pushed relentlessly by Fitch, during this fight, BJ will fold.

Nice babble. You're wrong. BJ will will win. GSP will move to MW. BJ will then win the WW title. Then I'll come back and tell you to suck it.

Good point about the speed, Bill. I don't think enough people talk about GSP's speed either, now that you mention it. I would take Fitch's comments about his fight plan with a grain of salt though. Anyone worth two brain cells is going to try to misdirect with what they say pre-fight.

Sure you're right about Fitch being able to beat BJ by laying and praying or "grinding it out" as some call it. But I don't think it is a "size" issue and BJ has beat bigger guys. The "top notch wrestlers" you speak of may be GSP or Edgar , but he actually beat most wrestlers (Hughes twice, Stevenson, Sanchez, Sherk, Gomi) he has fought. The bigger issue with BJ is speed, he has trouble with guys like Edgar and GSP who possess a lot of speed and quickness. But against slower fighters he picks them a part, and Fitch is not that fast! Plus the guy has stated he has to make a statement and wants to stand with BJ... mistake. Also BJ has better take down defense than most fighters Fitch has faced. So (and I might be biased) I think BJ has more going for him in this fight than just a quick KO.

Ballsy post for a guy with no real name. We'll see how smart you are come Sunday. My money is on Penn by superior everything.
